Living on campus for the eight week residential program is a training experience designed to continuously improves it’s content in outdoor education for future instructors, community volunteers and enthusiasts alike.

The experience provides a comprehensive education from basics to advanced methodology through both ancestral living skills coupled with modern methods of  outdoor living. You will progress from Wilderness Survival skills through Sustainable Long Term Off Grid Living toward being a leader in Outdoor Skills and Education.
The four seasonal courses focus upon the challenges and opportunities that each changing season offers.  Resulting is a well-rounded, highly competent outdoor educator who can speak from practical experience about living in the natural world.
Goal: To create instructors and community developers in outdoor education by increased nature literacy, survival skills, practical outdoor skills, and a productive nature connection.

Maine Primitive Skills School offers campsites to students during their stay at no extra charge. When preparing to arrive, plan as if you were going on a comfortable car camping experience. You will have easy access to your vehicles during meals and before and after course times. Check out our “What to Bring” page and don’t hesitate to contact the school for more details.
