Exploring Winter Landscapes: The Softwood Forests
January 8, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Treat yourself to an engaging experience that combines a nature hike with a series of learning adventures. Together we will discover what the needle leaf trees have to offer us. Expect opportunities to track wildlife, forage for medicines, fire starter, food, and much more! We will also resent some fun skills and opportunities to use them in Maine’s legendary evergreen forests.
There will be fun, hands on skills challenges to refine your navigation and awareness skills as well as sharpen your field craft abilities! No experience necessary. A day pack for lunch on the trail, appropriate dress, and a sense of adventure required. This hike will be easy to moderate with many stops.
Possible opportunities might include tracking bobcat, fox, snow shoe hare, and others. We could also explore how to read conifers to gather information about direction, forest ecology, and the history of the area.
