Make an effective shelter from only the debris you find. Read the landscape in order to find and process drinking water. From the wood you gather and shape, coax fire for your light, your tool making, warmth, water purification, and to cook the endless stream of nutrient rich foods you gathered yourself. These are skills and experiences you will enjoy for the rest of your life. It is something that no one can take away from you. Re-energize yourself with a more a hands on approach to your deep connection to the landscape through ancestral skills in field craft.  Learn how primitive skills, bush craft, even wilderness survival, can become a doorway to fulfillment and deep nature connection. Your wilderness skills will carry over into your daily life, increasing balance, health, diversity, and a sense of connection that will move you.  We share the wisdom of our collective ancestry in nurturing and supportive environment with a community of skills practitioners.  All levels of experience are welcome.  Let us meet you where you are and help you develop your edge.

Maine Primitive Skills School offers campsites to students during their stay at no extra charge. When preparing to arrive, plan as if you were going on a comfortable car camping experience. You will have easy access to your vehicles during meals and before and after course times. Check out our “What to Bring” page and don’t hesitate to contact the school for more details.
