Long Term Shelter Building
June 5 @ 10:00 am - June 9 @ 12:00 pm
Use ancient design, natural materials, and modern understanding of thermal dynamics and environmental architecture to produce an inexpensive, efficient, and long lasting eco-friendly dwelling. We will build a structure that utilizes passive solar, rocket stove radiant heat, and thermal mass to maintain a temperature between 58f and 68f year round and using less than a third of a cord of wood in a twelve month period. From harvesting and shaving poles, to gathering and preparing cob, to designing and constructing the rocket stove thermal mass radiant floor heating system, you will be involved in this step by step process guided by folks who have lived in and built these shelters over the last seven years.
