A full year of courses with instructor mentorship.
The Non-Residential Apprenticeship is designed for those who want in depth skills training and don’t have big blocks of time to commit to a residential experience. It is specifically for working folks who are passionate about the outdoors. As a non-residential apprentice, your studies at MPSS are covered for one calendar year which includes all courses on the calendar as well as classes offered exclusively to those enrolled in the apprenticeship program. Support and mentoring is available as your time permits.
Similar to the residential apprenticeship, the purpose of the non-residential apprenticeship is to generate experienced skills practitioners who are motivated to grow in their personal skills and share within the context of a talented skills community. The Non-Residential Apprenticeship provides the opportunity to attend every course the school has to offer in a calendar year, plus attend any courses you may have missed during the following calendar year. Apprentices are encouraged to stay between courses to work on skills or projects with instructors once a month. Non residential apprentices are also invited to participate in off campus apprentice trips and events. After completion of a specific course you may return to the same course to work on advanced forms of skills and assist instructors. We share mentoring skills to help those passionate about teaching toward increased proficiency in an instructor role.
